Exterior Doors Stained

Jennifer Cathey, Restoration Specialist, worked with Dan Slagle to identify the correct color stain for the school’s exterior doors. Dan shared documentary photos and wood samples with Jennifer. The school is looking so much better!  Still lots of work left, but much progress made. These photos are from a Rosenwald school located in Maryland, the Pleasant View Historic Site in Montgomery County. Preservation Maryland is currently assisting the Quince Orchard community with strategic visioning for the Pleasant View Historic Site in Montgomery County.


Workday at School – July 6, 2017

This Thursday, July 6, 2017, will be our next workday at the Mars Hill Anderson Rosenwald School. We will be scraping old adhesive from the floor. Rosenwald Schools National Register Nominations Project

We are pleased to report that a consultant has been hired for our Rosenwald schools National Register nominations project, which was funded by an Underrepresented Communities grant awarded to the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources last year by the National Park Service.
